Running a marathon

The team

I was a little nervous running with a team, but today was our first gathering, and our first run together. It wasn't so bad! We ran a little over 8 miles and there were only a handful of people who ran that.

I pulled something in my leg a couple weeks ago, and I'm hoping the pain will cease if I rest it enough this week. It really wasn't fun running on that, but I tried to ignore it.

Let's hope that I can make it through the longer distances!

I'm still here

Really. I ran last weekend - but only ran about 6 miles. I've been taking it easy this week, running only 3 miles at one time because my legs have been so sore and I want to prevent injuries. I'll be running about 5 tomorrow and then I have to attend the Team in Training kickoff. I'm hoping there will be a few other newbies who are going to attempt a full marathon. In my first gathering with other TNTers, I was the only person attempting the full - everyone else was going to do the half marathon.

Things are good. My legs are still intact. That's always a good thing.

Taking the day off...

My legs don't hurt nearly as bad as they did last night. But, I'm taking today off. No recovery run (the weather sucks anyway) and no walking.

I may do an abs workout later - it's a lot of stretches, and could help...and then I wouldn't feel so lazy about not running.

Oh, and I hope to buy new shoes tomorrow or Tuesday. Thinking good thoughts about that. My feet could use the change.

Double digits

I felt a little motivated and over-confident when I woke up this morning. Well, I've felt a little over-confident all week. So, I headed over to Beaver Lake this morning around 7:15, and ran 10 miles. Ten very hard miles.

I hurt like hell. I feel like my leg is going to fall off at any given moment (or at any sudden movement) and my kneecaps don't feel like they're intact.

All I could think about during the last mile was the pain is temporary and at least I don't have cancer. I know there are plenty of people who would rather endure the pain of running ten miles, and for that I have to feel good that I can do this.

But, it still has to get better than this!

7.5

Kenny and I headed to Beaver Lake again yesterday. He walked for an hour, while I ran. I was determined to make it 5 times around the loops, but I stuck with 4. I wasn't feeling as ambitious as I was on Thursday. Still feeling good, though. My body doesn't ache so much after I run.

Next goal: 9 miles. maybe 10 by the end of the week.
