Running a marathon

7.2 miles!

I headed over to Beaver Lake this morning. I thought I would run 8 miles. I busted out the new fleece top Jason and Heather bought me and my iPod loaded with upbeat music, and started my trek along the lake. I miscalculated the distance, so I didn't hit 8 miles, but I did get 7.2. I ran 66 minutes total. I'm pretty psyched!

5 more miles

I ran 5 miles today with my brother. It was pretty fun - very cold, and it started misting while we were running. I asked him half way through if he normally runs more than 2 or 3 miles...he admitted that he doesn't normally, but he did great today. I'll admit that I didn't do so badly - even after eating my weight in Christmas dinner yesterday!

And, if it makes any difference, I ran two miles last night...

What a bad week!

I went running Wednesday morning. I got an iPod for Christmas (it was an early Christmas present) and tested it Wednesday - it's WONDERFUL! I'm not sure how I ever got along before it!

Anyway, ran 3 miles with no problems on Wednesday. Haven't been running since. Work is too insane - I hope to run 4-5 miles tomorrow, though....after work, of course!

5

It's my fifth post, and I ran five miles today.

I can't lie. Today hurt. I decided not to "rest" today like the calendar stated I should. I have to work the Christmas Jam tomorrow, and I know I'll be sleeping most of Sunday. If I was going to get my five miles in this weekend it had to be today. So I did it. And it hurt.

I've inherited my dad's bad knees. I have to ice myself down today.

On the positive side of it all, I ran the five miles in 53 minutes. I kept almost the same pace that I ran yesterday (when I ran four miles.) I hope I'm not running too slow...I don't know if I can run any faster!

4 miles

It wasn't so bad today! I got through four miles in 42 minutes. Not too bad for my second time this week. And, I don't feel sick, which is always a great thing.

4 down, 22 to go.

Gone are the days...

that I run one or two miles for exercise. Now, I run a minimum of three miles. That's "easy", according to the schedule I have. But, I did run three miles, and it really wasn't so bad.

My cd player batteries died about two songs into the run, so that kind of sucked, but the rest of the run went well.

And, the weather was beautiful. Damn global warming is giving us all sorts of nice weather right now (50s and 60s, sunny...and it's December!)

It has to get easier.

Yesterday was the first day that I officially increased my mileage. Only to 4 miles, but it is still an increase. I found a four mile run in my neighborhood (taking every side street I possibly can) and finished in just under 45 minutes. I then decided to walk the dogs a mile, and go on a walk with Kenny (another 1.6 miles). As Kenny and I finished our walk, I started to feel very sick. Too much exercise - not enough water.

I need more fluids. I may need to rethink my diet.

But, that can wait another week - let Christmas come and go, and then rethink the food choices.

It's official.

I'm running a marathon, and I thought I'd start this blog to keep track of my progress (or lack thereof.) Hopefully, this will keep me motivated. Or....maybe it won't! We'll see :)

I turned in my paperwork for Team in Training yesterday, and they sent me a schedule of workouts - where I should be when the "team" officially meets in January. It actually didn't look too bad. This coming from a girl who has only run 5ks in her life. Yesterday was a day for cardio - 30-45 minutes of it, and I had already done Tae-bo, so I felt pretty darn good.

Today, I was supposed to run between 3 and 4 miles. Well, I walked a mile at lunch, and by the time I got home at 4:45, it was snowing...HARD. But, I ran. I only ran just over 2 miles, but I still did it, and I'm glad I did. Though, it's 2 hours since I got back, and my body is still kind of frozen.

Not sure what's on the schedule for tomorrow, but for the first two days of "training", I think I'm going to like this.

More on Team in Training later!
